Look Good by Saving Money

All of us want to look good. If you think you don't, you're lying to yourself. Too many of us, however, think that looking good is all about achieving the right weight. It's not. Looking good is all about being healthy and feeling it. People who feel healthy because they are healthy just look better, both physically and because of a more positive attitude on life.

Most of us aren't really healthy, because we don't eat right and we don't exercise. Some nursing homes house surprisingly young people who are simply not physically strong enough to care for themselves. Similarly, diseases that used to be considered 'symptoms of old age' are showing up in younger and younger people.

The worst part about this change in our health is that is really is entirely preventable. The best part is that the measures that you should take to prevent these diseases from affecting YOU too early are the same ones that will ensure you will lose weight and feel healthy - and that means looking good, too!

Premade Food
The first measure you should take is to skip out on premade meals and other prepackaged foods.

Here's why:

Premade goods are always filled with SOMETHING to make them more flavorful - and there's really only three choices: sugar, fat, or artifical substitutes for either sugar or fat. Most often, the flavorant is refined sugar (whether they call it High Fructose Corn Syrup, Dextrose, or just Sugar.) The health problems that are caused by refined sugar and/or flour are well documented. Slightly harder to find is information about the dangers of lab-grown un-food substitutes like sucralose and aspartame - but only slightly. Google is your friend.

So, how do you avoid premade foods?

Go to your local farmer's market and/or the organic side of the fruits-and-veggies aisle of your grocery store. You'll be amazed at how good truly fresh produce tastes - just don't go nuts on dips and dressings, and don't overcook it.

Also, skip the fast food. Same problems, only even worse.

Why bother?
Let's see: you will lose weight, get healthy, feel healthy, look better, and save money doing it. Just about the only reason NOT to make this simple change is, quite simply, that you're addicted to premade or fast food. If you make this change, you will be able to save money by not going to the doctor for as many health problems, as well by eating less-expensive real food instead of marked-up prepackaged garbage. Once you're feeling better, your natural inclination will be toward exercise, which will help even more.

Once you start exercising naturally, you'll find that exercise alleviates depression and reduces the need for many forms of medication, again potentially saving you a pocketful of money. Clearing up your medical history can even save you money with your health insurance company after you've kept it up for 6-12 months!
