About Us
Michael Danielson, author of Fire Your Doctor, was a tae kwon do fighter, and a track and cross-country runner in high school. Upon entering college, the legendary "freshman 15" became a "freshman 150" as he learned about the joys of a T-1 internet connection and went from eating his mom's home-cooked food to his own Hamburger Helper at the same time. He went from 180 lbs to 350 lbs in one year, and never thought anything of it. When his long-time girlfriend moved in with him, she loved him enough to marry him anyway -- but then, over the next few years, she had the same problem. Neither of them had a clue as to why.
Then, one day as they were walking to a concert a few blocks from home, Michael's wife had a physical breakdown. Asthma, heart palpitations, nausea, and pain all struck her at once -- they had to turn around and go the half-block back home. It was then that Michael's mother-in-law determined to solve their problem. She went to school on nights and weekends for month after month until she obtained her nutritionist's license. She applied her knowledge, using the couple as her first clients, and after two years of following her diet and absorbing every bit of knowledge that they could, they were able to have their first child. Both of them have become crusaders against malnutrition and diet myths, and both assist their new personal nutritionist as much as they can, consuming health news and new nutrition-related articles, books, and other media voraciously.
Fire Your Doctor is the culmination of their years of study: an attempt to bring to light information that nutritionists the country over know, but has simply avoided public scrutiny for a variety of reasons. They know the facts: that true health and the beauty that comes with it are in YOUR hands. They've been there.
Michael's wife administrates a message board, and Michael is a moderator on an up-and-coming browser tactics game. Both enjoy cooking, playing with their new baby boy, and Haagen-Dasz ice cream (which is a health food when eaten correctly!)
